Quick answer: as a guide, puppies and kittens go several times in their first months (vaccinations and check-ups), healthy adults at least once a year and seniors every six months or as your vet advises. Go sooner if you notice any change in health or behaviour.
Recommended frequency by age

|---|---|---|
| Puppy / kitten | Every 2–4 weeks until vaccinations are complete | Vaccinations, worming, growth. |
| Adult | At least once a year | General check-up, vaccinations, mouth, weight. |
| Senior | Every 6 months (as a guide) | Early detection of age-related problems. |
